The month of April was a busy one for us. On Wednesday, April 18 we had a Recognition Night to honor the service of a number of our brethren. Not everyone was able to attend. We anticipate addition presentations in the meetings to come. We are proceeding with the review of our bylaws. There are modifications being reviewed, discussed, edited, and transmitted. One significant change is related to stated meetings. The revised bylaws provide for a stated meeting on the third Wednesday of July and August. It is not known if we will have
the bylaws in place before July but we anticipate having the stated meetings on July 18 and August 15. A request for dispensation will be submitted with hopes of approval. Please mark those dates on you calendar, the air conditioners in our lodge work. On Saturday, May 5 our lodge will be the site of a way station for the 2012 Lake Walk for Cancer. The sponsoring organization Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital Foundation provides the necessary supplies and equipment. We just need to provide some smiling and happy faces to greet those guests that run and walk by. This is an excellent opportunity for us to be visible and a part of the community. We would expect to be in place
around seven.
It is possible for you to find more precise information about the time and plans if you are a part of Facebook. If so then here is a link that will interest you http://www.facebook.com/lodge42. This was created in April. There you will find current event information. You may be aware that we also have a web site at www.lodge42.net. This is an attractive site but as this is written is a bit dated. In the coming weeks we will be making effort to assure that current events are available to those that use the web.
Going to the Facebook page you will see information and a link to our golf web site. There you can register as a volunteer, register for dinner, register to pay golf, donate, and there are more features planned. In April you received a “flyer” for the golf outing. The golf outing is on Monday, July 16 at the Legends of Bristol Cone Pines in Hartland.
On March 31 several of our brothers were members of the District 9 Degree Team held at the McKinley Masonic Lodge in Brookfield. A team required fourteen and when the competition was expanded to include a District effort was made to field a team. The effort was primarily that of Br. Henry Pynakker who almost continuously promoted, encouraged, and most of all taught the team. The result was pleasing. The District 9 Degree Team placed first. In closing I would like to take a moment to include
some personal thoughts. On Tuesday, April 10 I was initiated into the Order of the Eastern Star at our lodge. Many of you may be surprised to learn that in the space of an hour or so I only said a few words. It was an enjoyable evening and a great pleasure.
Sincerely and Fraternally,
B. Frank McKenna
